The Bart Chucker Band

“Richmond has been my home now for 40 years. It’s where I played my first gig as a teenager and where I have performed the most. It’s where I quit my day job at 26 to do music for a living and The Bart Chucker Band’s home base. Richmond crowds are great. They are fun, dynamic and appreciative and as a musician, our performance often ebbs and flows from the reaction and participation of the crowd.”

“Like many others, I’ve watched the Richmond music scene evolve over the years and believe it continues to move in a positive direction. Richmond houses such a diverse blend of genres. Also, new musical venues continue opening to accommodate more acts which in turn expands our music scene. The number of places that have live music has grown exponentially in RVA over the years and this provides more opportunities for musicians and audiences. I also find that venues, agents, bands and sound production people have a close knit relationship here and within that community, there is more camaraderie than competition. Bands are friendly with each other and look out for each other.”
