Music Made Here
“Richmond is a lot more diverse for a city this size than others around the country may think. That diversity means that there are so many musical styles having success throughout. VCU is a major contributor to this rich musical tapestry with all the talent coming from all over for the music school. Plus I grew up here so it’s nice to still play for my longtime friends and of course family.”
-Rick Schafer on why he loves making music in Richmond
“In addition to the above reasons, the different neighborhoods have their own identities: Shockoe Bottom, the Fan, VCU, North Side, South side and Midlothian, Short Pump and West End, Carytown, etc. This allows for an indie scene, a country scene, hip hop, blue grass, rock, and plenty of venues just to hear your favorite covers, originals and see emerging artists.”

About the band
The Jangling Reinharts came together to provide roots-rock music largely forgotten by other bands. Think: The Band meets Van Morrison and they go out to Stephen Stills’ house and listen to the Monkees while watching a Barenaked Ladies video. This melting pot of music describes what they are all about.
The Jangling Reinharts mix popular cover songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s (along with the occasional TV theme song…just to see who’s listening). Beautiful vocal harmonies, superb finger-style on the lead guitar, and a knack for playing the right song at the right time set the band apart from the rest.
The Jangling Reinharts normally perform as a four-piece band, including two guitarists, bass, and drums, each of whom contribute vocals as well. Also available is an acoustic duo or trio version of the band for a more laid-back event, or just for an opening set to gradually get the evening started. Either way, you still get a great sound with a huge variety of songs you know and love.
The Reinharts were selected co-Best Wedding Band in Richmond by voters in Richmond Magazine’s 2014 year-end poll, and were selected outright in 2015.
Currently the Jangling Reinharts are as busy as ever and widening their sphere of influence. What began as a duo with an affinity toward the sounds of the alt-country scene has grown into a full-bodied musical adventure embracing all styles and influences. In heavy demand up and down the East Coast and points just east of the Mississippi, the Reinharts continue to grow and explore and incorporate more theatre into their rootsy sound.
