Steven Snider & Last Call

“I love making music in RVA because the city and surrounding communities lend themselves to the artist.  There are a ton of great venues, an excellent music community, and fanbase.  RVA is also unique in that it is large enough to support a vibrant music scene that spans multiple genres, but small enough that it doesn’t take long to get to know almost all the music community.  There is definitely a sense of all the musicians being a part of the same “gang”, if you will.  We’re all in it for the same reason, the love of making and performing music, and we’re all supporting each other.”

“Believe Me” by Steven Snider & Last Call

“One of the things that I love the most about our RVA scene is that there are no egos.  Everyone is willing to share the stage, pitch in on a recording, come together to do a benefit, or simply chat about their favorite album or gear at any given moment.  Almost all of my friends at this point in life have come from playing music in one form or another and it’s refreshing to think that because of this gift I have been able to befriend so many truly spectacular people.”

about

It was born out of necessity.  Out of passion.  Out of everything I’d experienced up to that point.  If a lockdown taught me anything, it was to not waste a moment.  So, in the winter of 2022 I promised myself I’d meet a few goals, making my own “ep” was one of those goals.  The initial idea was to play everything myself, but I quickly realized I needed help with the drums.  So, I called up a friend and drummer extraordinaire, David Landrum, and asked for some time-keeping help.  In the spring of 2023 David and I headed over to Soul Shaker Studios and Distilled Sounds to get the first 4 songs done.  It was amazing to work so hard, yet so fast, to see things through.  It was also apparent to me, and David, that this wasn’t, and couldn’t be, just a one-time thing.

Enter the band.  To make this sonic landscape on a stage I needed a band, and not just any band.  I needed my band.  I’ll be really honest, it’s made up of my best friends.  We’ve got David on drums, Brett Fisher on lapsteel/guitar, Ryan Colton on guitar, Adam Bateman on bass, Kim Finnegan on backing vocals and guitar/auxiliary. Last Call….it’s only fair that they put their stamp on things moving forward from recording to live.  We really look forward to letting you hear what we’ve been up to.  Starting in August, we’ll be releasing a single every 6-8 weeks.  We’ll start with a little number called Believe Me, I hope you like it. Cheers. Steve.
