Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct

Small Venue Music LLC is a professional marketplace built on trust and mutual respect. To ensure a safe and productive environment for all Performers and Venues, we require all users to adhere to the following standards when interacting or providing feedback. By using the platform, you agree to these Guidelines as part of your Terms & Conditions.

1. Professionalism in Feedback

Ratings and comments must be based on a firsthand professional experience related to a confirmed booking.

  • Show-Related Content: Comments must focus on the performance, the venue facilities, or the professional conduct of the other party.
  • No Irrelevant Grievances: Do not include complaints about third-party issues outside of the user's control (e.g., city traffic, local weather, or neighborhood parking).

2. Prohibited Content

We have a zero-tolerance policy for content that includes:

  • Profanity & Decency: Use of curse words, sexually explicit language, or "coded" vulgarity.
  • Personal Attacks & Harassment: Any language intended to demean, insult, or intimidate an individual personally rather than critiquing their professional performance.
  • Discriminatory Language: Hate speech or discriminatory comments based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
  • PII (Doxxing): Disclosing private contact information — such as home addresses, personal phone numbers, or specific geographic location data (including zip codes, coordinates, or neighborhood-level location details) — in a public comment. Note that while the Platform publicly displays a "Based in [City, State]" label on Performer profiles, the underlying zip code and precise location data are private; attempting to surface, infer, or share that private geographic data in a comment or message is a violation of this policy.
  • Extortion: Threatening a negative review to manipulate the other party into providing extra-contractual benefits (e.g., demanding more money or a longer set time to avoid a "thumbs down").

3. Moderation and Enforcement

  • Reactive Review: Small Venue Music LLC does not pre-screen all comments but provides a "Report" mechanism for users to flag violations. Comments are subject to the platform's double-blind rating reveal: a submitted comment is held in a pending state and is not publicly visible until it is published (when both parties to the booking have submitted their ratings or the 7-day rating window expires). The Report mechanism therefore applies to published comments only — a comment cannot be seen or reported by other users while it is pending. Published comments may be reported wherever they appear: on public profiles, on the "View All Comments" screen, and in a user's own "My Public Profile" self-view — meaning the party a comment is about may report a published comment made about them.
  • Review Timeline: The Company aims to review flagged content within five (5) business days of a report being submitted. High-severity reports involving threats of violence, hate speech, or doxxing are prioritized and reviewed as promptly as possible.
  • Right to Remove: The Company reserves the right to remove any comment that violates these guidelines without prior notice.
  • Account Suspension: Repeated violations or a single egregious violation (such as hate speech or threats of violence) will result in permanent account deletion.
  • Definition of Egregious Violation: Egregious violations include, but are not limited to: hate speech or discriminatory language, threats of violence or physical harm, doxxing (public disclosure of private contact information or private geographic/location data), extortion, and any content that constitutes harassment under applicable Virginia law.
  • Effect of Account Deletion on Bookings: When an account is deleted — whether by the user through Account Settings or by the Company as an enforcement action under these Guidelines — all of that account's confirmed bookings with a future date are automatically cancelled, any pending cancellation inquiries on those bookings are withdrawn, and the other party to each affected booking is notified in-app and by email. Deletion is permanent and cancelled bookings cannot be restored. These automatic cancellations follow the platform's standard Show Reliability rules: any cancelled show that was within seven (7) days of its scheduled date counts as a late cancellation attributed to the deleted account's anonymized record.

4. Appeals

Users who believe that a moderation action was taken in error may appeal through the process described below. The Company is committed to fair and consistent enforcement of these Guidelines.

  • Self-Initiated vs. Company-Initiated Deletion: The appeal rights in this Section apply to moderation and enforcement actions taken by the Company, including Company-initiated account suspension, deletion, or termination under these Guidelines. If you delete your own account through Account Settings, that deletion is made at your own election, takes effect permanently with no recovery window, and is not subject to appeal. Regardless of which party initiates deletion, the booking consequences described in Section 3 ("Effect of Account Deletion on Bookings") apply.

  • Content Removal Appeal: If your comment or rating has been removed, you may submit an appeal within thirty (30) days of receiving the removal notice. Appeals must be sent to stagecrew@smallvenuemusic.com with the subject line "Content Appeal," and must include your account email address, a description of the content that was removed, and the reason you believe the removal was made in error. The Company will respond within fifteen (15) business days.

  • Account Suspension or Deletion Appeal: If your account has been suspended or permanently deleted by the Company for a Guidelines violation, you may submit an appeal within thirty (30) days of the notice. Send your appeal to stagecrew@smallvenuemusic.com with the subject line "Account Appeal," and include your account email address, the nature of the action taken, and any supporting documentation or context you believe is relevant. The Company will review account suspension appeals within fifteen (15) business days and permanent deletion appeals within thirty (30) business days.

  • Appeal Outcome: The Company's decision on appeal is final and constitutes exhaustion of the internal appeals process. Users who have exhausted the internal process and believe a legal claim remains may pursue dispute resolution as described in Section 9 of the applicable Terms & Conditions.

  • No Retaliation: Filing an appeal in good faith will not result in additional penalties. Submitting a false or frivolous appeal, however, may be considered a violation of these Guidelines.
